Job Description
· Oversee monthly close process
· Reconcile pricing differences in the company’s brokerage accounts resulting from the company’s use of its own market prices when valuing ICE and NYMEX cleared contracts rather than those used by the respective exchanges
· Oversee the monthly reconciliation of futures and options using equity reports from Ralph & Nolan system;
· Ensure that reclassifications done on a monthly basis to accurately reflect open position value by portfolio Complete a month-to-date and year-to-date reconciliation between the various portfolios’
· P&L per the books to a Ensure that all inventory reconciliations are completed accurately and on a timely basis across all product lines Other special projects As needed -
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Licenses
· Strong practical accounting, analytical and organizational skills
· Knowledge of general ledger accounting practices
· Ability to analyze variances in accounts
· Solid verbal and written communication skills
· Strong documentation skills
· Ability to work independently and propose solutions is critical
· Proficiency in using word processing and spreadsheet software (MS Word and Excel)
· Experience in using Showcase Query and Excel pivot tables preferred Detail-oriented Ability to meet monthly deadlines Ability to work in an active and fast-paced department Ability to solve problems and work through issues
Required Experience
· Education Four-year degree in accounting
· Experience Three years of public or five years of strong private accounting experience, resulting in a solid understanding of accruals and general ledger practices
· Experience managing multiple people preferred
· Experience in problem-solving
· Experience in a commodities or financial environment preferred Knowledge
